Had it for two days, loved it and made great coffee. Downloaded the SmartHQ app and connected it with the app and then it said the maker needed an update. I updated it and now the coffee maker won™€™t work. I called and spoke with 5 different people and they all just kept sending me to other people until the me lady said I just have to replace it but since I didn™€™t get it from them directly they won™€™t fix it. Will never buy anything from this brand

Flawed Grinder Makes Terrible Coffee

A lot of good about this machine but at the end of the day, it just can't brew a consistent and good cup of coffee due to a severely flawed grinder design. Beans rarely feed properly leading to weak & watery coffee or non-stop "Add Beans" error. Manufacturer recommends using only light beans to solve this which is totally ridiculous, especially at this price point. The remote features are totally useless since you have to be right there babysitting the grinder. So disappointed.

I bought this unit december of 2024 and now in June of 2026 it has started leaking water everywhere. I called customer service and they said to press and hold the carfe button to start the descaling process.....which nothing happens. No descaling option shows up. I told them all this and I was told nothing they can do since its over a year old and hung up! So purchase this unit if you like nice looking things but be aware its nothing like a keurig machine that will last you a lifetime. I am so disappointed.

BEWARE - DO NOT BUY

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BUY NO MATTER HOW NICE THE MACHINE LOOKS! My husband and I have had this coffee maker for about 2.5 years. We absolutely loved it and have taken great care of it. And then out of nowhere when I opened the brew basket to clean the grinds out of the filter the swinging arm mechanism was completely broken. The whole thing including the brew basket was sagging. Apparently, what happened was there are support pivots on the top and the bottom of the swinging arm that hold it in place and the bottom one broke off. There wasn't anything that happened specifically that caused it to break. I don't even know when it did it just worked great one-time and the next it was sagging. The pivots are built into the machine itself, so it is not a replaceable part. My only option is to buy a whole new machine. I called the manufacturer to explain the issue and even offered to send the machine back so they can witness the great condition it is in, but they refused to do anything for me since I've had the machine more than a year. Customer service advised that this can sometimes happen from normal wear and tear and isn't out of the ordinary. Therefore they confirmed themselves that a premium coffee maker from them often breaks after 2 years. After asking several times to speak to someone above them finally they agreed to it and that person offered me a $50 certificate to go towards an appliance which is nothing when I need a whole new machine. So, I then asked for someone above them to call me, and they did and they couldn't have been ruder from the second the guy was on the phone he was rude. It was actually so comical I couldn't even believe someone that is a supervisor spoke to a customer the way they did which then of course made me mad. The two people that were under him were much nicer; he should absolutely not be in that position (name: Alex). So, to all buyers BEWARE that these machines will typically only last a couple years before something breaks and you will end up needing a new machine. DO NOT BUY!

Poor material quality

I do like the coffee making options and functionality, yet have a big problem with material quality. After about 1.5 years, the coffee pot handle ™€œwrap™€ started flaking off. I followed all care instructions, always hand washing. I tried gluing it as I also don™€™t want those flakes to fall into my coffee. I contacted customer service who told me it was out of warranty, so on me. The replacement cost is $157!!! Expected better quality from both an expensive and GE Cafe product. I™€™ll just buy a new (and different) coffee maker

makes good coffee and I really wanted to like it! But replacement parts are unobtainable. The O ring sealing the water reservoir and filter cartridge wears out quickly and you won't be able to find a good replacement. Bummer! GE should offer O ring replacements along with cartridges, maybe 1 O ring for every 3 cartridges because that's about how often I had to scour the internet to find the right one. Not worth the hassle.

I loved this coffee maker until it stopped grinding. I cleaned it per the manual, etc. No matter what I did, no grinder. It does make good coffee but issues with the water container leaking and the grinder quitting make me wish I hadn't paid so much money for a coffee maker. I will go back to the Cuis.....rt grind and brew for a lot less money. From everything I've read, there is no point in calling support or hoping they will stand behind their product. So disappointed.

Literally does not grind beans. Straight out of the box, the hopper is designed or engineers in such a way that it does not pull beans into the burr grinder, and the "bean detection" feature both fails to detect beans in the basket, or detect that no beans are grinding. $350 for a coffee pot that doesn't do the only thing that makes it different from other coffee pots. Oh, and the build quality is pathetic. Super cheap plastic construction, the basket door doesn't align with the latch. Quit wasting money on "AI Generated Review Topic" suggestions and build a good product.

DO NOT BUY the CafÙ Specialty Grind and Brew Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe. I loved it at first™€"great coffee, convenient all-in-one design™€"so I recommended it to friends and family. But just out of the 1-year manufacturer warranty, disaster struck. The thermal carafe handle snapped clean off when accidentally knocked over (it wasn't even a hard fall). Paint started chipping off within one year of normal use. Called GE support, and they flat-out refused to replace it under warranty. To get a new carafe? $150 out of pocket. Worse, the machine is useless without the exact proprietary carafe™€"no generics work. GE's response? "Tough luck, buy a new one." Total rip-off for a premium-priced machine. Now I'll warn everyone against this. Save your money and frustration™€"look elsewhere for a reliable coffee maker. Zero stars if possible.

I have now owned both of your yucking piece of ehit, coffee makers, which neither one of them can heat coffee. I have now had to heat all coffee made from your coffee makers in the microwave to bring to any kind of temperature and after this morning, I will never buy any more of your yucking coffee makers. Please, whatever you do, do NOT buy this. It leaks from the water reservoir. And then it fries the control board so it doesn't work. We thought, maybe the first one was just a lemon. No, they gave us a replacement and we had the exact same issue. And if you read all of these reviews, it looks like it's a universal experience. They refused to refund us, by the way; they just shipped us a third one. I tried to sell it, but no one would buy it because the now terrible reviews. And, right hand doesn't talk to the left hand in customer support. Took it to Fedex because they gave me a label to return, and Fedex told me it would be $50...I said no, you need to cover my returns and come pick it up from my house. Made them ship me a box, too, because they told me to use the box it came in... who hangs on to boxes? I'm not paying to return your broken product... twice. Speaking of twice...we are also on our second Cafe dishwasher that is also broken. So all around, from my personal experience, I would never buy or recommend anything from Cafe.

I am waiting to hear from a customer service rep as to why my machine is brewing way too many beans for a carafe - it has used 3 lbs of beans in 5 days; which of course is making the coffee very strong. Am also having trouble with the program switching to the previous brew before the new programming is brewed. Love the look of the machine and the built in grinder but so unhappy with it using this amount of beans resulting in a bad cup of coffee

Very happy with this coffee maker. It's easy to use. The grinder makes for a fresh cup every morning. When guests come, switching to making a full carafe, while still having the "Grind' feature, is quick and easy. Coffee comes out delicious and quick every morning. (My only issue, the time setting never stays at the correct time, no matter how many times I set the clock).

Water Reservoir failure

Purchased through Cafe 2 plus years ago. The water reservoir discharges water over the counter. This happened a few times early on. I attributed it to the way I seated the full container back on the maker after filling. But no matter what I do, it would occasionally discharge. I chalked it up to user error. This week it emptied water over the counter 3 times. The gasket was replaced after the first failure. Hence, I am reduced to adding little water each time a cup of coffee is made or not use at all. I have checked the manual/trouble shooting tips makes no reference to this problem. For the price of this appliance, I am stunned at that this is a continuing problem. Awaiting a response from Service. But I cannot recommend this coffee maker unless you want to continually be wiping up water. Buyer beware

Loving the machine, seems sturdy enough to work for years. The only gripe I had was the silly flimsy plastic guides for the carafe top - instead of a solid button, it has tiny u-shapes that broke the first day, fell into the carafe and ended up in my mouth. It was cheerfully replaced by the company & received right away, so no harm done, but it's a design flaw that could result in someone swallowing the plastic pieces. Beef up that vital area & I would rate the entire unit 5 stars!

Best coffeemaker I have ever owned! Love the carbon filters and ease of replacement. I use only Zero Fiktered water ( no dissolved solids). The app makes things so easy!! I usually set at 4 or 6 cups ( set as favorites). The only thing is if your kitchen is cold the carafe is cold and has a cooling effect on coffee temp. You can preheat w hot water if that is a big deal. But it™€™s better than burning coffee! You can nuke for 30 seconds if u don™€™t think hot enough. I generally don™€™t mind. Flavor is great! Cleaning is easy. Using timer is a gem! Grinds and heats really incredibly fast! Would recommend! The coffeemaker and carafe is extremely well made! The carafe is very solid! Again highly recommend !

I™€™ve had this machine for over a year now and it™€™s doing just fine! No mechanical issues whatsoever. The carafe doesn™€™t keep smaller amounts of coffee warm for very long. We rarely make a full pot. We usually use the Gold or Bold brew strength setting. They both brew delicious coffee. The design is beautiful and has held up nicely. We don™€™t put any of the parts in the dishwasher. Also, I was able to find filters on a third party site that work for this machine when this website was sold out.

Not at all the quality I would expect from something with the Cafe logo. Grinder spews coffee grounds everywhere. Including in the pot. Made of plastic so cheap it can™€™t be put in the dishwasher. So you have to take the entire thing apart and wash by hand. And there are lots of parts. Brand new. Received as a gift. GE will not honor warranty unless I have a receipt, which I do not as it was a gift. Run the other direction. It™€™s complete garbage.

We are so disappointed with this coffee maker. We have all cafe appliances including the Cafe Expresso machine and all have been fantastic. We decided to purchase this pot and sadly just a little over a year of use and it stopped working. Our only option was to pay for service since it was out of warranty. We decided to spend the money on a different brand instead.

I love this coffee maker! The enclosed booklet manual was a nice feature which made it easier to set up without having to have my computer handy just to turn it on. Love the options of single serve and a thermal carafe rather than having brewed coffee burning on a heater in a breakable glass carafe. The serving sizes for each option, grinds, brewing times, and WIFI set up are so modern and up to date! Love the flavor of every type of coffee I try in this machine. Perfect temperature and perfect cup of coffee, finally!

I like the design of this coffee maker but the amount of coffee it makes, and it shuts off and on various times while using. Then it uses so much coffee beans which is an ridiculous amount for what it pours out.

So Quiet!!!! Thanks for clear instructions! Seems high quality! Very heavy and so seems very sturdy. Set it to the Gold Standard and brewed 6 cups and it was perfect ;) used the gold mesh filter. Clean up was simple. I am using a Zero Water 52 cup dispenser to remove dissolved solids from water and so am hoping with that and the Cafe Makers carbon filter the scale will be minimized and will last long. Downloaded the app and set up a few favorites and the also a weekend schedule and work week schedule. Will let you know how it works in the morning ðŸ¤. Only disappointment is the ™€œsoftware firm™€ update for the device (thru the app) didn™€™t seem like it was updating and it spun for an Hour. It said could take up to 30 minutes. Well I exited the application and came back in and the message was gone. So I assume the update took 😊

Completely broke after 5 days!

We bought this coffee maker. 5 days after purchasing my husband lightly dropped the carafe in the sink while cleaning it. The handle completely came off after just FIVE days. When contacting the company I was told that we would have to buy a new one for half the price ($150.00) of the coffee machine because acts of god aren™€™t covered. When paying this much money this should never happen after just a few days of using it.

I absolutely love this machine. Constantly making a cup or a pot with it. I have automated settings for the work week, weekends, and a quick cup, etc. Absolutely amazing! It is the only coffee machine I have seen that has wifi, grinder, single cups, pot, a mobile app, and does your taxes j.k. (maybe next generation??)

Great Coffee - Spotty App Connection.

We have had grind and brew drip coffee makers for about 10 years. We went through 2 Cuisinart in that time period. The Cafe makes great coffee although somewhat strong even on the lightest setting, that may be the beans we are using. I love the ability to tune the brew so much from the temperature of the water to bloom time, it makes excellent coffee. Downsides so far are that the machine is difficult to connect to via the app. It seemed to work for the first few days but now it is very rare to connect to the app via our wifi network. I have restarted the app, reinstalled the app, reconnected the machine, and restarted the router.... It is very frustrating. The time syncs and the WiFi symbol on the machine is on so I know it is talking to the router, but it status remains as not connected. The next issue is that our son brought this home from the US this Christmas - we live in Canada and he goes to Uni in California. It was purchased at Best Buy. So it has been a nightmare to register. If I register it on the US site I cannot use my Canadian address and if I register it on the Canadian GE site, I cannot register this model number... So I have to register this on the US site with my son's address in California. Not sure what this means for warranty coverage?

Brews a good cup of drip coffee!

Overall, it looks great and functions very well! Features that I enjoy: built in grinder (not super loud), fill from the top water, insulated carafe. Things I don't like: it's tall instead of wide. Feel like the design could still look great a little less tall and a little wider. The buttons are the type that are covered by a plastic overlay that cracks over time if someone with nails uses it, for applications like this, a touch-screen or another format of button would've been ideal (especially for the price!). I haven't tried the wifi piece yet, but it seems super unnecessary. I don't know, maybe I'll fall in love with it.

Very well made coffee machine! This makes a great cup of coffee and I love the flexibility of being able to brew a single cup or full carafe. I just wish there were less plastic components, namely the water reservoir and coffee ground basket assembly. Would also like the carafe to be modified so water doesn™€™t get stuck in the lip on the inside. I almost returned it for the plastic reason. Otherwise, really awesome machine that makes delicious coffee!

Way too strong. Making too much grounds.

It grinds way too long and produces too much grounds. It ground for 24 seconds and produced 13 scoops of grounds for a 10-cup carafe on the light setting when we would normally use 5 scoops. Coffee is ridiculously strong, basically feel like I™€™m drinking espresso. Switching to medium and bold adds approximately 2 seconds to grind time. Gold time was about the same time as medium. All measurements were done with grind size in the middle between course and fine. Switching to course isn™€™t going to make a significant difference in the amount of grounds produced, it™€™s just way too much. Please reach out to us. Excluding the grounds problem, love everything about this coffee maker. It just makes undrinkable coffee because it grinds too long.
