My cafe was installed Tuesday. Wednesday it was cooling and making ice. Thursday when I went to start transferring my food into it, it was off. Since this occurred within 48 hours of installation it™™s classified as dead on arrival. Repairman can™™t come until next week so I™™m going through Mother™™s Day weekend without a refrigerator. It looks pretty but it™™s useless right now.

I™™ve owned the fridge for about 3 weeks and it is a solid upgrade. PROS: It looks great and elevates the look of the kitchen to gourmet. The water/filter quality is top tier and the auto sense fill feature saves time when filling up a glass or a measuring cup. And of course it chills and freezes nicely with features that boost the capability for special circumstances such as installation or recovering from a power outage. CONS. It™™s missing a few ™normal folks™ features that I™™ve enjoyed over the years and that I would expect for the cost. 1. It is massive and takes 4-6 people to deliver it; annotate that during delivery or they won™™t send enough people to get it off the truck. Also, installation and haul away aren™™t included. Be prepared to pay a few hundred extra. 2. The door isn't magnetized - so it won™™t hold a magnet. 3. The interior configuration doesn't inherently work for 12-pack soda storage; so you™™ll have to pull them out of the box or sacrifice door space

It's not very deep, so there's not much room as a regular fridge. The doors are squeaking after 4 months, and I am not sure if the warranty will cover this. Also had two plastic pieces come off the interior of the fridge.

This 48-inch refrigerator appears to be operating exactly as expected, perfectly. This fridge has been in place for just a couple of weeks and we do expect to have many years of use from it. This is no small investment in either purchase or installation, this size appliance is the flagship of the company and is a significant thing to deliver and install, and as a built-in item, the exact dimensions of the exact location must be precise.

The guys showed up on time and installed it within an hour. They do come out in advance and measure the opening and make sure the power is in the right spot. I had to move my power up to the top of the fridge. Easy fix. They did want the dimensions a little smaller than the cabinets allowed for but when they installed it, the 48' opening was perfect. The inside is well lit and spacious. Even the freezer side has more space than my old fridge. So far so good. I'll come back in a couple months with an update.

Your refrigerator is terrible. As soon as I installed it the water line kept freezing. I had service out to my house 3-4 times to try and fix it. Eventually they put a whole new door. Then the light in the freezer stopped working and had to replace that. Now my refrigerator is 2 years old and the fan just went. Waiting on the part a week later. Of course it's out of warranty. The amount of money I paid for this high end piece of crap I would have expected it to last longer. I'll never buy a GE product again. Also you automated customer service line is terrible, not to mention the text option for service. Takes forever to get a real person on the phone.

Beautiful refrigerator with ample storage and extremely quiet when running. Very well lit with LEDs at every level. Very happy overall with this unit and I would definitely buy again. This unit weighs around 800lbs so plan on having the delivery people install it for you. We attempted to move this unit with 4 big burly guys and had zero success. Leave this one to the pros!

Worst purchase we™™ve ever made. Redesigned our kitchen. I think this Cafe refrigerator 48inch side by side was around 12K and it™™s been a total nightmare from the beginning. From the delivery date delay of 8 months to the crappy quality that has forced us to have repair people out at least 2x a year for the same reason and they don™™t stand behind their product. Maybe a year at most and it™™s not without a lot of pain to get any support. With all the issues they should have replaced this thing already. Instead it™™s the biggest albatross around our home. GE doesn™™t even make these any more. Total crime. Who wants to spend $12K on a refrigerator and have to deal with its regular problems for the rest of their life. You can™™t even find on point support on YouTube for this thing let alone anything organized at GE. It™™s not like this was a little microwave we purchased. You can™™t even find buy some cars for the cost of this thing. Have some pride in your product.

This refrigerator was the worst purchased made in our remodel. In the first 6 months, the ice maker failed multiple times as did the control panel. This led to at least 4 service calls and the ice maker has never worked perfectly. It doesn't make enough ice and spills ice all over the freezer. The refrigerator freezes produce or anything that touches the sides. Now, 4 years in, after loud humming on and off for multiple weeks, the fan froze up because the drain pan heater failed. This repair is over $1200 with parts and labor and would be even more if we had called GE service since their hourly rate is completely unreasonable. At this point, if I had not built an entire wall around this 48" fridge, I would replace it with a standard size fridge in a more reliable brand.

Purchased this refrigerator in Nov 2022 and extended warranty thru Assurant. 12/31/24 refrigerator quit working and filed claim. Bodewell (GE Service) has been to our home 7 times (4x to diagnose and 3x to install parts) and almost 3 months later refrigerator still not working. So far, defrost pan, evaporator fan, main circuit board, refrigerator thermister, door switches, and refrigerator air duct have been replaced. Assurant refuses to replace refrigerator or refund purchase price since Bodewell will not state that unit is "non-repairable". Now they are going to replace defrost heater and bimetalic switch. Another two weeks waiting on parts and no refrigerator. How many days off will either my wife or I have to take off to meet techs to get this $11,000 28 month old refrigerator to actually work? This experience will prevent me from ever buying another GE product ever again.

We replaced our 20+ year-old SubZero built-in fridge with a GE Cafe, as it was time for an upgrade. Unfortunately, we ended up with a lemon from GE. From the start, it had trouble cooling properly. After two years, it started making strange, loud noises and eventually stopped cooling altogether, which led to spoiled food. Three years later, despite numerous repair visits and poor service, GE declared it unrepairable. They refused to replace it and only offered a discounted price on a new one. The customer service experience was incredibly frustrating, with no real support offered. If possible, I would strongly recommend considering a different brand.

I bought this to replace a Monogram 48 with a serious manufacturing defect and I refused to spend $13-$14K for another. This refrigerator is no where near as nice as the Monogram so don't be lulled into thinking that the Cafe is "good enough". It is WAY louder, the Monogram used to seal/suck the doors closed, the Cafe does not. The auto-fill water feature works part of the time and it drips.

Another minor point, the panels are not well aligned, which just shows this thing was slapped together. I really regret not saving up some more money to just buy a Sub-Zero. We purchased and installed this product in November or 2020. The first thing I noticed was poorly aligned door panels. I was willing to accept this because, while this refrigerator was expensive, it™™s at a lower price point than other built-ins. After one year, the refrigerator becomes quite loud and the evaporator fan freezes over. It™™s now been four years and the evaporator fan has just been replaced for the third time. Believe all the other reviews you read, here and elsewhere. If you want a built in refrigerator, do yourself a favor and spend a little more money on a better brand.

Not cooling after less than 2 years of use. Poor seal at bottom of freezer door allowing air in to condense and freeze the fan which is not under warranty. It's either a manufacturing or design flaw. I have had enough of trying over and over again. From day one the ice machine didn't work. After they kept sending a new ice machine (3) they finally listened to us that it wasn't the machine (2-3 years without ice) . Called again this time the tech said its the condensor, it not powerful enough and has been a problem. Now we are going around and around to see who's paying what! And tonight it died. All food, gone. So angry. Customer service is a joke. I'm done! on to the next step!

This is a beautiful refrigerator. I love how quiet it is and how seamlessly it is integrated into our home. The lighting in the inside is nice and bright. I am I little disappointed in the freezer size. The water dispenser takes up room in the freezer but overall, I good purchase.

So far so good. The temps are great. I was hoping to get a model without ice and water in the door but I got a great deal on this one. The water/ice in door takes up space in the freezer is my only complaint. But that doesn™™t take away from how great it is. You can™™t have everything. It™™s Just personal preference. And it looks great and matches all my other cafe appliances beautifully.

Love the fridge. It has great space in both the freezer and the fridge. I am giving it 4 stars because the ice maker is so slow and doesn™™t make very much ice. The last GE profile made a ton of ice.

Read the negative reviews on this fridge here and other sites. Take the negative reviews seriously. Buy something else. I purchased mine in January of 2024. They put a nice shiny box around a bunch of cheap parts. only a 1 year warranty is a red flag. I have had a service tech come out 3 times already. Now they have agreed to replace it but won't have one available until late July. For an 11k fridge, you would not think it'd be breaking down like this. They offered a lower quality option that is available with no compensation for the price difference. It's a shame GE appliances have gone downhill.

We had the 48 inch GE cafÃ refrigerator installed last month. I™™m absolutely in love with the autofill water feature on the door. I press it and walk away, and I come back to a filled water glass. My kids love it for easily filling up their water bottles. The refrigerator and freezer space is vast and well organized. My only two criticisms are the top shelf on the door has such slim clearance The only thing I can store there are yogurts, which I really have to work hard to fit them in. The refrigerator is also a bit noisy. It™™s a big machine to cool, but I™™m surprised at this price tag, that I can hear it in the next room. Overall, it™™s not a perfect appliance, but it is great, and I would purchase it again.

Just had ours installed today (GE Cafe 48™ side by side refrigerator), replacing the Monogram we previously owned and loved . Very disappointed to see no internal temperature display, thinking I had the wrong fridge, since I had been studying the features extensively. Come to find out that while we were considering the option of ™no water/ice dispenser™™, the pictures of that unit show the refrigerator/freezer temperature panel. In the end we decided to purchase the unit that has the water/ice dispenser. So today as I look at the photos of the two refrigerators to check on the features, I realize there is no temperature panel if you get the water/ice dispenser. I am greatly disappointed to find that I was knowingly paying more for the dispenser, but unknowingly also losing a feature I thought was included. Cheap move. Also, my water dispenser keeps dripping™¦.

Installation and delivery was smooth. Had it 1 month. Beautiful looking fridge, easy to wipe fingerprints off. Like the autofill. Doesn™™t work perfect always, but is nice little feature. Happy so far!
