OK but Needs Improvement

This stove works but could use a lot of improvement. The oven runs too hot, and there is a strong smell of gas when cooking at high temperatures. There are only two grates on the range instead of four separate ones. The center section of the range is almost as low as the sections around the flames - if you put a spoon rest and cooking implement on the center of the range, the handle of the cooking implement gets hot. There is also only one well under each grate - if there is a large spill under a pot on one side, the spill won't be contained to the area around that one burner - it will spread to the other burner but in the same well. Since the center of the range is almost as low as the wells, I imagine that a large spill could also spread across the range. The oven has a sabbath and festival mode, but when you use it, the clock does not display the time. When the oven is on, the clock also does not display the time - you cannot even push the clock button to see the time. We have not yet used the self clean feature, so I can't rate that.

Decent Range but Clock will not keep time!

I've had this range for a little over 4 months now and it's a decent budget priced Range but there a few things that I have a issue with MAINLY the clock will not keep time and it's ridiculous! Every day the clock falls behind 1 to 3 minutes and that's one of the reasons I got rid of my 30 year old Amana range (technically it kept time but some of the lights had quit so it made it hard to read). I'm not a fan of the way the burners light at all, on my old Amana as soon as you just turned the dial the burners would ignite but on this GE range you HAVE to turn it to the exact "Ignite" spot on the dial otherwise it won't light. Also not a fan on how hot the range gets when the oven is on and also the black top is hard to clean. The only thing I like is the oven being electric and it works great. If I had it to do again I would NOT of bought this GE range but I am stuck with it sadly.

Chronic issue with burners not igniting.

I have been using a lighter to ignite the burners. 9 out of ten , there is no clicking sound to ignite the flame. It has been serviced once but when he came the igniter was working, lucky day. The next day it failed again and another service is scheduled. I am beyond frustrated with this cooking range and want a replacement. I wonder if this was a brand new or refurbished because it is bad.

Good Sabbath mode - Poor performance

I bought this oven over 4 months ago to replace a very old GE oven that I loved. The main reason that I chose this oven is that it has a built in OU certified Sabbath (Shabbos) mode that doesn™€™t require purchasing an additional Shabbos Keeper. The Sabbath mode works as described as long as you turn off the 12-hour auto shutoff in the settings before you use it. Otherwise, the oven will turn off after 12 hours even if the Sabbath mode is set for 72 hours. Having these instructions in the manual would have saved me a holiday of cold food and a lot of time trying to figure out the problem. The gas stove top is fine; it is just taking a little time to get used to, compared to my old stove. The broiler element is electric, not gas and does not work as well as my previous gas broiler. The only reason I discovered that the broiler is electric before I purchased the product is because of reviews online. There was nothing about this in the description or in the manual. Additionally, nowhere does it mention that the electric broiler element comes on periodically during the baking cycle. I believe this contributes to the biggest problem that I have with this oven. When I cooked bread and cake, no matter what rack position I put it on, the top burned and the inside and the bottom undercooked. It took 3 times with GE sending a technician for them to state that the oven temperature is running high, and they adjusted it to the lowest possible setting. Also, the manual states that generally only one rack should be used for baking. This is in contrast to the misleading image on the website showing both shelves in the oven being used to cook food. Had I known all this before I made my purchase, I would probably have chosen a different oven.

I'm only giving this range 2 stars because the stove top is decent. What i want to know is, who in the world thought an electric broiling element in a gas oven was a good idea. I just got my new range installed 2 days ago and I'm already wanting to return it. The oven in my old one went out just before the holidays. One of the first things I did was to bake a pan of cornbread which took too long to get done inside and was darker on top than it should have been. Next I baked a loaf of bread which is burned on top and barely done in the middle. If I have to set the oven rack to the bottom to avoid this happening in the future, there is a great deal of unusable oven space. In all the efforts to improve things, they are actually making them worse and less reliable. Why can't you just make simple ovens with timers and reliable temperature settings like they used to without all the "great new features." No, I do not recommend this range.

questionable oven temp

Bought this stove to replace my Samsung (oven failed) since appliances where "on sale" 40% off vs. fixing the oven on the Samsung (10 years old). The stove looks nice but is cheaply made. The bottom storage compartment feels like it's made from a tin can. The control panel is flimsy. Have used the oven several times finding that the temperature is not accurate (according to oven thermometer placed inside and wellness of baked goods). Have decided to buy another oven thermometer and evaluate the oven temps again. I give the stove a 3 star due to it's looks as well as the feel it has while using the burners on top. I definitely had a step down from my old stove which was much more sturdy.
